TEACHING

TEACHING

Jess Wen teaches Creative Entrepreneurship in the Interaction Design Department at California College of the Arts (CCA) and frequently guest lectures at other higher education institutions.

After wrapping up my first semester of teaching in 2023, I took time to reflect on the lessons my students taught me. This truth continues to keep me grounded.

The lesson here is: try hard, do good work, and always remember to protect your heart and well-being from outside demands.”

In their words

“Jess Wen is one of the best professors I’ve ever met. She has a remarkable ability to engage students, capturing our attention and making us eager to participate in class. The projects she designs are not only relevant but also highly enjoyable. It helped us grow both as designers and individuals.”

“Jess has a unique way of breaking down complicated topics like startup and finance vocabulary and concepts in an engaging way that doesn't feel daunting for a new learner. She is extremely well-organized and structures the semester very intentionally.”

“This class was a perfect balance of humour, breathing space, weeks with balanced workload, very structured, very organized. Super inspiring and helpful. I am grateful to learn this from Jess at the outset of my career so I can inculcate all of it in my career path.”

“Jess’ discussion-driven classes allowed students to express their thoughts and grow with the course material freely. Her pitch-like style of lecturing always commanded the space and gave students the motivation to improve consistently with each class.”
